Prayed on Thursdays
First Luminious Mystery - The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.  After Jesus was baptized, He came up from the water.  The heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon Him.  A voice from the heavens saying "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased."  (Matthew 3:13-17)
Think of...How God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were all present at the Baptism of our Lord, just as they are all present at our Baptisms.
Spiritual Fruit - Repentance

Meditation

The day was hot; the Baptizer was busy.  He looked up to see someone calmly moving down the bank toward him.  In a sudden recognition of the Only One of God, John drew back:  "I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?"

Jesus directed John to allow it, to fulfill all righteousness.  After Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened and a voice was heard proclaiming, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

Jesus had a mission.  He accepted His mission, and received the power of the Spirit to carry it out.  In addition, He received His Father's affirmation.  Each of us has a mission as well, a unique vocation that only we can fulfill, as did Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist and so many others.  Today let us seek God's perfect Will for us, and ask Him for the grace to live it out.  May His Kingdom come!

Second Luminious Mystery - The Wedding Feast at Cana
There was a wedding in Cana in Galilee.  When the wine ran out, the Mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine."  She said to the servers, "Do whatever He tells you."  Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water.  Draw some out and take it to the headwaiter."  The headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine.  Jesus did this at the beginning of He signs in Cana in Galilee.  (John 2:1-11)
Think of...the servers at the wedding following the direction of Mary to do whatever Jesus tells them, just as we too should do what Jesus tells us.
Spiritual Fruit - Obedience

Meditation

Mary was concerned for the hosts and guests at the Wedding of Cana, and Jesus allowed her to exercise her gift of intercession.  In changing the water into enough wine for several weddings, Jesus displayed God's abundant generosity and opened the hearts of his disciples to faith.

'Saving face' is important in every culture.  We want to be at our best and most hospitable when we are entertaining our guests.  Sometimes we run out of what we need, and we are helpless.  It is then that oftentimes God shows us His unconditional mercy by providing what we need just in time.  Let us thank God for this gift.

Third Luminious Mystery - The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God.  "This is the time of fulfillment.  The Kingdom of God is at hand.  Repent, and believe in the Gospel."  (Mark 1:14-15)
Think of...spreading the Kingdom of God "on earth as it is in heaven".
Spiritual Fruit - Righteousness

Meditation

Jesus preached in the synagogues, streets and hills of Galilee, offering individuals the fulfillment of all their hopes and dreams.  People listened, spellbound, as He told them how to gain entrance into this new kingdom:  "Repent, turn around, and believe the Good news.  God has made a way for you to come back to Him!"

In our universal search for happiness, we have perhaps tried many things - some of which have left us in bondage, unable to break out of the prison that sin has created.  Jesus knocks on our door, offering us the remedy.  But we must do something - we must repent and believe, that He is the answer, the One who will lead us to true and complete freedom!

Fourth Luminious Mystery - The Transfiguration
Jesus took Peter, James and John and went up the mountain to pray.  While He was praying, His face changed in appearance and His clothing became dazzling white.  And behold, two men were conversing with Him, Moses and Elijiah.  A cloud came and cast a shadow over them.  Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is My chosen Son, listen to Him."  (Luke 9:28-35)
Think of...Jesus' transfiguration as a sign of what we too can experience with our glorified bodies.
Spiritual Fruit - Glory

Meditation

The disciples climbed a high mountain with Jesus.  As the cool Galilean winds blew around them, they saw Jesus growing brighter and brighter until He was literally glowing from within.  Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared, talking with Him.  The disciples felt they were at heaven's door.

How has God revealed Himslef to me?  More importantly, how has that moment changed me?  Most of our life is ordinary, yet God is transforming us daily from glory to glory, through the power of His Holy Spirit.  Am I open to Him working in me?

Fifth Luminious Mystery - The Institution of the Eucharist
Jesus reclined at table with the Twevle.  While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to His disciples said, "Take and eat:  this is My Body."  Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the covenant which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."  (Matthew 26:20-28)
Think of...the Miracle that takes place at every Mass when Jesus comes to us, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist to be as close as He can be to us.
Spiritual Fruit - Union with Christ

Meditation

The apostles had enjoyed the unimaginable privilege of living day to day for three years with the Son of the living God!  Now, at their most solemn and ancient feast, Jesus suddenly changed the ritual.  He proclaimed that the bread and wine were now His Body and Blood, given for the salvation of all, so that He could be with us forever.

Jesus left us His Body and Blood as both sacrifice and meal.  How often do I receive this precious gift?  Do I ever consider that God knows exactly what I need to live a truly happy and holy life - and that's why He gave us His Son's Body and Blood?  Let us thank God again for liberating us from the slavery of sin and death and transforming us through the grace of the Eucharist into the image of His Son.
